Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday Joins the Nextgengolf Team as National Sponsor

Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday Joins the Nextgengolf Team as National Sponsor

Golf’s Most Popular Destination Teams Up With Game’s Leading Millennial Outreach Program

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – As golf continues to look for ways to attract more young players, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday has entered into a sponsorship agreement with Nextgengolf, an organization that targets competitive and recreational millennials to help engage them with the game.

Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, the driving force behind the Grand Strand’s emergence as America’s most popular destination, is now a national sponsor for Nextgengolf. As part of the program, Nextgengolf will annually host a minimum of four events, including one national championship, in Myrtle Beach, and the Grand Strand will have a marketing presence at 185 Nextgengolf events across the nation.

“Introducing the game’s next generation of players to the virtues of a Myrtle Beach golf trip is vital to the continuing strength of our market,” said Bill Golden, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday’s president. “Nextgengolf is the game’s leading grassroots effort to engage millennials with the game, and we are looking forward to a creative partnership that will promote the long-term health of the Myrtle Beach market and the game.”

Myrtle Beach will be the official Spring Break destination for Nextgengolf. The Nextgengolf team will work with the Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday staff on promotion and branding of other opportunities such as Bachelor Party, Buddies Trips and High School Golf Team Training.

Nextgengolf connects with golfers in their 20s and 30s through their two core team-based golf services the National Collegiate Golf Club Association (NCGCA, college students) and the City Tour (young adults).

“We are excited to be partnering with Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday,” said Kris Hart, Nextgengolf, CEO. “Myrtle Beach has the right recipe for success for the go-to golf destination in the US for young adults. We look forward to our partnership and showcasing what Myrtle Beach has to offer to our community.”

The NCGCA targets golfers who aren’t playing on a collegiate team but want to continue to push themselves in a competitive environment. There are 115+ regional NCGCA tournaments throughout the country and unlike varsity collegiate golf, NCCGA club teams are co-ed, student-run and inclusive. Some campuses have hundreds of students in their golf clubs.

The City Tour, which launched in 2014, appeals to recreational and competitive golfers throughout the summer who are between 18 and 39 years old. Starting on June 10th, there will be monthly events in 20 cities in 2017 with more than 15,000 golfers under the age of 40 expected to participate. The City Tour season ends on September 16th and 17th with the City Tour Championship at Myrtle Beach’s own True Blue and Caledonia.

CARLSBAD, Calif. (June 27, 2017) — Omni La Costa Resort & Spa is excited to announce the addition of RoboGolfPro®, the only swing training system that allows golfers to discover their ideal swing.

RoboGolfPro® is a revolutionary device that allows golfers to instantly feel their perfect swing by taking them through the correct movements with the help of video and mechanical training. Omni La Costa is the robotic training system’s only location in Southern California.

“The technology that goes into the RoboGolfPro® system is an essential element to the holistic approach to game improvement that is fundamental to the Omni La Costa Golf Performance Institute,” said AJ Avoli, director of the Omni La Costa GPI. “There is nothing else like the RoboGolfPro®.”

The RoboGolfPro® swing trainer was developed by Scot W.R. Nei, who has been successful as a tour player, equipment designer and instructor. The robot-like arms on his RoboGolfPro® take the student through the motion of the perfect swing, creating the “aha moment” by combining the feel and understanding of what the swing should be.

“RoboGolfPro® allows the instructor to get inside of the golfer’s mind, to create cognitive development and motor learning patterns that have instant success,” said Nei, who has joined the Omni La Costa GPI staff as a guest instructor. “It is ideal for RoboGolfPro® to be part of the curriculum at Omni La Costa, where so many exciting things are happening in golf instruction.”

Led by Avoli, one of Golf Digest’s “Best Young Teachers in America,” the Omni La Costa GPI offers a combination of physical, mental and high-tech programs designed to help golfers of all levels improve and gain a better understanding of their games. Among the other technology on hand is state-of-the-art computer technology that aids in visual learning, along with proven teaching tools such as the mySwing 3D Motion Capture System, Trackman and FlightScope launch monitor systems.

An eight-acre practice facility has recently been renovated for the resort’s Golf Performance Institute, and features both grass and high-quality mat hitting surfaces. The short-game area boasts both an 8,000-square-foot target green and 10,000-square-foot putting green.

This summer the Omni La Costa GPI will debut a golf-centric psychological program being developed for the resort by the world-renowned Chopra Center, which is also located on property.

One of 11 Omni golf resorts coast-to-coast, Omni La Costa is recognized as one of the historic golf destinations in the country, with two distinctive courses. The Champions Course and Legends Course were renovated in 2011 and 2013, respectively, by Pascuzzo & Pate Golf Course Design, adding length and enhanced strategic values, while upholding the integrity of the original 1960s Dick Wilson layouts.

The courses joining Caledonia and True Blue as part of The Architect’s Nine are Tobacco Road, Sweetens Cove, Wine Valley, Wild Horse, Rustic Canyon, Southern Pines and Rackham. Six of the nine courses have earned top 100 honors and there are three Mike Strantz designs, two Donald Ross layouts and a Gil Hanse/Geoff Shackelford course participating in the program.

The live oak trees draped in Spanish moss, the marshy waters of the Waccamaw Neck, and Strantz’s architectural brilliance combine to make Caledonia one of America’s premier public golf experiences.

Everything about True Blue is big – the fairways, the greens and most of all, the fun. Strantz used waste bunkers, which frame many of the course’s fairways, to craft a layout that is among the Myrtle Beach area’s most visually stunning.

Golf Magazine’s travel expert, Joe Passov, said of True Blue, “From the late, great Strantz’s sublime design to the helpful staff to the tip-top course conditions, this dramatic, watery layout remains a must play in Myrtle Beach.”

LANAI, HAWAII, May 2, 2017 – One of the world’s elite golf venues, the Manele Golf  Course at Four Seasons Resort Lanai has been listed among the winners of the Golf Digest magazine Editors’ Choice Awards as one of the best of the best golf destinations in the United States.

The awards program identifies “The Best Things in Golf,” with an emphasis on lifestyle properties, products and services, notes editorial director Max Adler. Golf Digest editors give high marks for having hot-ticket rental clubs available and golf shop merchandise that goes beyond the obligatory logoed shirt. Well-appointed accommodations and attentive service are high on the list, as are unexpected extras such as live music at breakfast, a fruit basket at the turn, and being handed a steaming scented towel coming off the 18th green.

The awards list recognizes resorts throughout the United States, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Bermuda, and Canada. These resorts routinely offer multiple courses, often with layouts that are fun to play and feature impressive scenery.

The Manele Golf Course at Four Seasons Resort Lanai will be listed with the other award winners in the current (May 2017) Golf Digest print and digital editions, as well as on www.GolfDigest.com and social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

“We appreciate the editors of Golf Digest magazine recognizing the excellence of Four Seasons Resort Lanai among most outstanding golf destinations in the country,” said Tom Roelens, general manager of Four Seasons Resort Lanai. “We welcome the opportunity to share our stunning ocean-view course with avid golf travelers from around the world. We know when they visit us they will enjoy a trip of a lifetime.”

A breathtaking Jack Nicklaus Signature golf design, the Manele Golf Course is the ultimate in must-play golf experiences. Highly acclaimed, yet still very much untouched and uncrowded, Manele is laid out on lava outcroppings and features three holes along rugged oceanside cliffs.

The course offers heavenly views of the Pacific on all 18 holes. Its signature hole is No. 12, a par 3 where the tee sits 150 feet above the crashing surf. Five sets of tees ensure a fair, fun challenge for every golfer, but do-or-die shots over natural gorges and ravines must be precise.

“I am sure the Golf Digest editors have found that playing the Manele Golf Course is something magical they will ever forget,” said Scott Ashworth, Manele’s PGA director of golf. “Golfers always want to come back for more. “It’s a challenging but enjoyable golf course – even though the spectacular views can be a bit distracting the first time you play.”

Kaua‘i Golf Courses Earn ‘Golfweek 2017 America’s Best by State’ Distinction

(KAUA‘I, Hawaii) – Princeville Makai, Poipu Bay and Ocean Course at Hōkūala are “Golfweek 2017 America’s Best Courses You Can Play By State” a distinction recently bestowed by the national media outlet based on expert ratings completed during the preceding 12 months.

We invite golfers worldwide to visit and judge for themselves. Visit www.gogolfkauai.com and start planning; we’ll be waiting for you.”

Perennially recognized for their high-end excellence, Princeville Makai Golf Club (St. Regis Princeville Resort), Poipu Bay Golf Course (Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa) and Ocean Course at Hōkūala Resort feature stunning ocean views and world-class designers (Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and Jack Nicklaus).

Couples is working with Todd Eckenrode of Origins Golf Design, the architect of record. “We want this to be a course that all players can enjoy,” Couples said. “With its multiple sets of tees, it will vary in length and will feature undulating greens, dramatic elevation changes, impeccable fairways and natural bunkering.”

Todd Eckenrode added, “We were meticulous in our mission to honor our surroundings. We’re building around the land, using local materials whenever possible and integrating and preserving natural features such as rock outcroppings, mature flora and landforms like arroyos in the golf routing.” Designed to pay tribute to the land, the layout, inspired by classic Golden Age courses, will feature an ocean view from every hole.

Rather than mass-grading and re-planting landscaped areas after the course is built, an environmentally-sensitive clearing plan has been established. The design team is grading from the center lines out to the perimeter of each golf hole and leaving the surrounding native vegetation intact. A buffer will be left on the perimeter of each golf hole to protect the natural beauty along the periphery of the course. Golf and landscape irrigation will utilize non-potable water from an on-site reverse osmosis desalination plant and wastewater treatment facilities.

“The Twin Dolphin Golf Club will reinvent the typical golf experience with unexpected amenities at every turn,” said Neil Johnson, Ohana’s director of residential real estate. “We are bringing the clubhouse experience onto the course and changing the way amenities are experienced. On-course amenities will include food and drink options that will be available in new and very exciting concepts offering indoor-outdoor dining and relaxation areas. The buildings will have a residential feel and will be something that people who are not even playing golf will want to tag along and experience.” Guests will enjoy highly personalized on-course service staff, a full practice range, short-game practice chipping areas, practice putting greens, a full-service clubhouse, on-course amenities and caddies.

Practice facilities will include individual hitting stations with laser-measured yardages to target greens. Each hitting station will be equipped with player amenities. In addition, state-of-the-art instructional video and computer systems will be available to guests as part of the instructional program.

The course will be available to residential owners within the Twin Dolphin community, including Maravilla Los Cabos and Montage Residences Los Cabos; as well as Montage Los Cabos, a deluxe 122-room oceanfront hotel expected to open in 2018. The development occupies the site of the former Hotel Twin Dolphin, an iconic property now honored in name by the community and its golf club.

“Montage Los Cabos on Santa Maria Bay is the absolute best location for a resort in all of Los Cabos,” said Alan Fuerstman, founder and CEO of Montage Hotels & Resorts. “Its stunning natural setting, gentle swimmable beach on the Sea of Cortes, and its proximity to all that Cabo has to offer sets the stage for an extraordinary Montage resort.”

Players From 27 States Poised To Play In 3rd Annual Myrtle Beach March Championship
Six of Myrtle Beach’s Best Courses Will Host 54-Hole Event

Myrtle Beach, S.C. — The third annual March Championship is ready to tee-off with sunny skies in the forecast and some of the best Myrtle Beach golf courses awaiting.

The March Championship will be played March 5-7 at Barefoot Resort’s Dye Course, Founders Club, Glen Dornoch, Sandpiper Bay, Tiger’s Eye and True Blue. Three of the six host courses have been ranked among America’s top 100 public layouts in recent years.

Myrtle Beach March Championship will be played March 5-7Players from 27 states, ranging from California to Maine, will be in Myrtle Beach to participate in the 54-hole, net stroke play tournament that mirrors the World Amateur Handicap Championship from a competitive standpoint.

Participants will be placed into six flights based on age, gender and verified USGA Handicap index and play a different course each day.

Tournament festivities begin with a Saturday night welcome party and conclude with an awards dinner on Tuesday evening.
While the tournament gift bag and pre and post-event parties add to the experience, the golf courses and competition are what attracted 185 players to the event.

Opening round play will be at the Dye Course and Founders Club. The long-time host of the Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am, the Dye Course has been ranked among America’s 100 Greatest Public courses and will provide a memorable round.

Founders Club, which uses waste bunkers and elevated fairways to create visual contrast, is almost devoid of cart paths and quickly emerged as a South Strand favorite after its opening in 2008.

On Monday, play will move to Glen Dornoch and Sandpiper Bay. With five holes that play along the Intracoastal Waterway, Glen Dornoch has long been one of the most popular Myrtle Beach golf courses. The 17th, a par 3 flanked by the marshy waters of the intracoastal, is one of the area’s most photographed holes.

Sandpiper Bay, a 27-hole beauty, is a former Myrtle Beach golf course of the year honoree renowned for the quality of its conditions. Sandpiper is also one of the Grand Strand’s most player-friendly layouts.

The final round of the March Championship will be played at a pair of top 100 courses – True Blue Golf Club and Tiger’s Eye Golf Links.

Everything at True Blue is big – the fairways, greens and, most of all, the fun. The Mike Strantz design, with its yawning waste bunkers and varied challenges, is ranked among America’s top 100 public courses by Golf Magazine, Golfweek and Golf Channel’s Matt Ginella.

Tiger’s Eye was the layout that brought national acclaim to Ocean Ridge Plantation. Tim Cate, using a combination of sand, water and locally harvested coquina boulders, crafted a course that is among the area’s most memorable, highlighted by an outstanding collection of par 3s.
