Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Reveals New Championship Trophy in Time for 2017 PGA TOUR Event

This Year’s Winner Will Raise The Howard Hughes Cup on the 18th Green at TPC Summerlin

LAS VEGAS – Sept. 25, 2017 – Shriners Hospitals for Children Open today revealed the tournament’s new championship trophy, The Howard Hughes Cup. The winner of this year’s PGA TOUR event, taking place October 30 – November 5 at TPC Summerlin, will take home the cup presented by The Howard Hughes Corporation®, along with $1.188 million which represents the winner’s share of the $6.8 million purse.

“The Howard Hughes Corporation has a long-standing partnership history with the tournament that has evolved through the years to become the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open,” said Kevin T. Orrock, President, Summerlin®, a premier development of The Howard Hughes Corporation. “As the host community of this golf tournament, Summerlin is exceptionally proud of its affiliation with the PGA TOUR and this event that raises critical funds for Shriners Hospitals for Children®. The introduction this year of The Howard Hughes Cup is the next evolution of our ongoing relationship and support of this tournament that takes place in our own backyard at the award-winning TPC Summerlin. Like many golf fans and Southern Nevadans, we look forward to a great week of championship golf, and we invite everyone to join us.”

The master planned community of Summerlin spans 22,500 acres along the western rim of the Las Vegas valley on land purchased by Howard R. Hughes in the 1950s. Named for Hughes’ grandmother, Jean Amelia Summerlin, the community is today home to more than 100,000 residents and has ranked among the country’s best-selling communities for decades. Its hallmark lifestyle is created in large part by a robust list of amenities that includes 10 golf courses, 150 miles of trails, nearly 250 parks of all sizes and more. The community is a premier development of The Howard Hughes Corporation which owns, manages and develops commercial, residential and mixed-use real estate throughout the U.S.

Fans will have the opportunity to see The Howard Hughes Cup in person and take photos with it on Sept. 28 from 3 to 6 p.m. at a special event in the Dining Arroyo at Downtown Summerlin®. Additional details surrounding the display of the cup will be announced soon.
