RING IN THE NEW YEAR AT THE SEA PINES RESORT, THE PERFECT FAMILY DESTINATION

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Nov. 7, 2018) — Times Square might have history on its side, but The Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island is carving out its own New Year’s Eve tradition.

For the ninth consecutive year, the resort will play host to two separate New Year’s Eve events – an early one geared for families, a midnight one for those who like to stay up late – both capped by ball drops from the top of the 93-foot tall Harbour Town Lighthouse, the iconic symbol of the Lowcountry region.

The early event…

  • Runs from 6 to 8 p.m., making it perfect for local and visiting families
  • Drops the nine-foot inflatable golf ball from the top of the Lighthouse at 7 p.m.
  • Features tons of child-friendly entertainment including clowns, face painting, jugglers performing and instructing, music, party favors, and much more.

The later event is set for 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. with the ball drop and deejay music on the stroke of midnight.

According to the resort’s Director of Recreation & Marine Operations Rob Bender, the two New Year’s Eve events have grown in popularity and each now attracts a few thousand people, boosted by typically pleasant weather and a beautiful seaside setting.

Over the years, the ball-drop honors have gone to an active serviceman, a town official, a representative from the RBC Heritage PGA TOUR golf tournament staged annually at the resort, and Stan Smith, Sea Pines’ head tennis touring pro, a two-time Grand Slam singles champion (1971 U.S. Open, 1972 Wimbledon), and former No. 1 player in the world.

The New Year’s Eve celebrations and ball drops are the grand finale to resort’s month-long “Harbour Town Lights” program, which includes Christmas light displays, as well as numerous holiday activities and musical performances, throughout The Sea Pines Resort. Harbour Town Lights is presented by The Sea Pines Resort, the shops in Harbour Town, and local businesses.  Visitors are asked to bring a canned good or two, or a new unwrapped child’s toy and drop them in the “well” by the Liberty Oak stage to support the The Deep Well Project, a local charity helping the less fortunate of Hilton Head Island since 1973.

The dual New Year’s Eve festivities add to The Sea Pines Resort’s rich reputation as the ideal family destination, featuring five miles of unspoiled beaches, three acclaimed golf courses, 21 clay tennis courts, 14 miles of bike and walking trails, horseback riding, Eco-Adventures, water sports, and the 605-acre Sea Pines Forest Preserve rich in wildflowers, wetlands, and more than 130 species of birds.

Plus, the resort offers a wide range of lodging accommodations, perfect for families of all ages and sizes. Options abound from The Inn & Club at Harbour Town, the No. 1-rated hotel on Hilton Head Island, to luxurious vacation homes for two to 12 guests. As an added benefit, guests enjoy valuable discounts and charging privileges at the resort’s diverse restaurants, shopping outlets, and pro shops.

Cobra Golf’s King F9 Speedback Metalwoods Uncover Formula For Speed

COBRA GOLF’S KING F9 SPEEDBACKTM METALWOODS UNCOVER THE ULTIMATE FORMULA FOR SPEED –  A REVOLUTIONARY ADVANCEMENT IN AERODYNAMICS & LOW CG

Carlsbad, Calif. (October 30, 2018) Cobra Golf®, a leader in golf club innovation, today introduced the 2019 KING F9 SPEEDBACK™ Drivers & Fairways.  For the first time in the metal woods category, the SPEEDBACK™ family of metal woods achieves true optimization of aerodynamics and a low center-of-gravity (CG), delivering the longest and fastest COBRA driver and fairways.

The KING F9 driver, features breakthrough SPEEDBACK Technology, which, for the first time in golf, successfully combines a highly aerodynamic clubhead shape with low CG. SPEEDBACK is a game-changing advancement in the way a driver is engineered. The combination of an efficient aerodynamic shape and an engineered weight structure on the sole, improves club speed while maintaining a low, deep CG to create the most efficient transfer of energy to the ball. Utilizing a CNC Precision Milled Face, created using industry-leading face manufacturing technology, allows for a thinner and hotter face design that has shown ball speed increases up to 1.5 mph when tested against a traditional, hand-polished face.  These technologies fuse to deliver the ultimate formula for speed and extreme distance.

To create this more aerodynamic SPEEDBACK Shape, COBRA® engineers raised the perimeter skirt, aft (tail) and crown, and rounded the leading edges to reduce drag and improve speed and stability. These performance technologies and design innovations delivers a truly “AEROFICIENT” driver.

“This year, COBRA engineers have taken aerodynamic performance to the next level. We believe we’ve found the ultimate formula for speed as true aerodynamic innovation and low CG has never been combined this successfully,” said Tom Olsavsky, Vice President of R&D, COBRA Golf. “Our SPEEDBACK Technology blends a more efficient aerodynamic shape with a lower, deeper CG, and our thinnest, hottest CNC Milled Face design to deliver unparalleled speed, distance and precision in our F9 Metalwoods.”

Continually pushing the boundaries of innovation, COBRA® engineers have developed golf’s first ultralight carbon wrap crown design that wraps around the body, delivering a 12% larger carbon fiber area, saving 10 grams of weight compared to a titanium crown driver. 360 Aero™ Technology utilizes lightweight polymer crown trips and titanium sole trips positioned relative to the direction of airflow around the clubhead, further helping to reduce drag.  Strategically placed PWR Ridges™ are designed to enhance aerodynamics and add rigidity to the carbon crown structure creating more energy return and more power to the ball to maximize speed and distance.

COBRA® continues to utilize its proprietary, CNC Precision Milled driver face, which utilizes a precise CNC milling process, to deliver its thinnest, hottest face repeatedly on every driver manufactured.  CNC precision milling allows COBRA® engineers to achieve more precise face thickness and tighter tolerances compared to the manual hand polishing method used on traditional drivers, resulting in improved bulge-and-roll curvatures and a face that is 3% thinner and 10% lighter.  For the first time, with the precision of CNC milling, all new E9 Speed Tuned Technology™ optimizes the bottom roll curvatures on the face of each driver to tune launch & spin for different swing speeds and attack angles.

The KING F9 SPEEDBACK™ driver (MAP $449) is constructed using a lightweight 8-1-1 Titanium body and face that spares weight, allowing engineers to position the CG low and deep. COBRA’s patented E9™ Technology features a variable thickness face designed with an elliptical pattern Sweet Zone™, creating more hot spots farther away from the center to maximize distance on miss-hits.  Dual Roll Technology™ optimizes top and bottom face curvatures, which are CNC precision milled to exact specs on every driver, to minimize gear effect that negatively impacts launch and spin on misses. Additionally, three horizontal bulge curvatures are designed to optimize the face angle on the toe and heel to minimize slicing and hooking of the ball due to off-center impacts. Combining weight saving technologies into the design allows for an adjustable weight system (with interchangeable 14g & 2g weights) that can be used to move the CG in the front or back position to help golfers customize launch and spin characteristics to improve their distance. MyFly8® with Smart Pad® technology affords golfers the choice of 8 loft settings (and 3 draw) to fine-tune trajectory and launch conditions while Smart Pad® ensures a square clubhead at address.

Each driver comes equipped with a new Lamkin Crossline (58+) Connect – Black grip and premium aftermarket shaft options: a high-launch/mid-spin Helium 50 (5F3 – in Reg or 4F2 – Lite); a mid-launch/mid spin Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec Blue 6 (X-Stiff, Stiff, Regular); a mid-launch/low spin Project X HZRDUS Smoke 60 (6.5 – X-Stiff; 6.0 – Stiff); or the Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec Black 7 (X-Stiff, Stiff).

The 2019 KING F9 SPEEDBACK™ Drivers & Fairways (along with the full KING F9 family of products including irons & hybrids) will continue to employ COBRA CONNECT™ Powered by Arccos, the award-winning connected golf system that helps players of all skill levels make smarter, data-driven decisions. Electronically embedded sensors in the grip automatically record the distance and accuracy of every shot so golfers can track their improvements round-to-round.

The KING F9 SPEEDBACK™ Fairway (MAP $269) is the first of its kind to feature a CNC Precision Milled Face, which, according to test results, delivers up to 2.5mph in increased ball speed, compared to traditional hand polished fairway faces.

SPEEDBACK™ Technology in the fairway utilizes a low, back tungsten weight and re-engineered Baffler® rails that move the CG low and deep, and improve turf interaction, to deliver more club and ball speed at impact. A fixed, 15g tungsten weight positioned low and back, promotes high, towering ball flights and maximum forgiveness.  Progressive Baffler® Rail Heights are designed shallower in the lower lofted fairways and steeper in the higher lofted fairways to account for varying attack angles. 360 Aero™ polymer crown and titanium sole trips positioned relative to the direction of airflow around the clubhead, further help to reduce drag and increase club speed. An ultralight carbon fiber crown saves discretionary weight up high, to move the CG lower and deeper for higher launch with increased forgiveness.  PWR Ridge™ crown designs add rigidity to the lightweight carbon crown structure to promote more energy return to the ball to maximize ball speed.

Rounding out the high-performance design, MyFly8® with SmartRail™ technology affords golfers their choice of 8 loft settings (and 3 draw) to help manage trajectory and customize launch conditions while Smart Rail™ keeps the face square regardless of the loft setting.

Cobra Golf Introduces F9 Speedback Irons and Hybrids

COBRA® GOLF INTRODUCES KING F9 SPEEDBACK™ IRONS & HYBRIDS FEATURING REVOLUTIONARY SPEEDBACKTM TECHNOLOGY FOR A NEW STANDARD IN SPEED & FORGIVENESS

KING F9 SPEEDBACK Irons and Hybrids Are Available in Variable Length and ONE Length Configurations Delivering Maximum Power, Stability and Accuracy to a Wide Range of Golfers

Carlsbad, Calif. (October 30, 2018) – COBRA® Golf, a leader in golf club innovation, unveiled today its new KING F9 SPEEDBACKTM irons and hybrids, the company’s most powerful and stable irons and utility clubs ever. The new SPEEDBACK™ irons and hybrids utilize COBRA’s breakthrough SPEEDBACKTM technology, that for the first time successfully combines a low center-of-gravity (CG) and high moment of inertia (MOI) to deliver the perfect blend of ball speed and forgiveness, for the first time, in one iron.

Available in a traditional, variable length set make-up and a forward-thinking, ONE Length™ configuration, the KING F9 SPEEDBACKTM irons are packed with an impressive array of cutting-edge technologies designed to deliver unrivaled performance. Traditionally, in game improvement irons, golfers had to choose between distance or forgiveness. In the new F9 irons, COBRA engineers were able to deliver the ultimate combination of both through SPEEDBACK™ Technology, a design concept that utilizes innovative shaping elements different from a traditional game-improvement iron. Through SPEEDBACK shaping, engineers were able to optimize low CG and high MOI to create the company’s longest, fastest, and most forgiving iron.

“It cannot be overstated just how technologically-advanced the KING F9 SPEEDBACKTM Irons are,” said Tom Olsavsky, Vice President of R&D for COBRA Golf.  “Golfers have been forced to choose between  distance or forgiveness in their game improvement irons. If you wanted more distance, then you sacrificed forgivness, and vice versa. With the new SPEEDBACK irons golfers can have their cake and eat it too.  Never has a game improvement iron set had the perfect blend of distance and forgiveness, until now.”

Key elements of SPEEDBACK™ Technology include:

  • Low CG SPEEDBACKTM Sole – Mass is added low and back using a belt of steel that wraps around the back of the iron, creating a lower and deeper CG that maximizes ball speed, launch and carry distance. SPEEDBACK shaping strategically positions the weight belt just above the contact area on the sole to maintain the sole width of a conventional game-improvement iron.
  • High MOI Design – To maximize performance, SPEEDBACK shaping allowed more mass to be added low and wide (out to the heel and toe) compared to a traditional iron.  Also, up to a combined 33 grams of Tungsten were added to the heel and toe in the 4-7 iron, a material used in premium priced irons. These shaping improvements increase MOI by up to 10% in the long irons, creating more stability through higher inertia that results in substantial improvements in ball speed, distance, forgiveness, and even accuracy.

Other technologies featured in the irons include:

    • Forged E9™ PWRSHELL™ Face – An improved E9TM (variable thickness) face is 3 grams lighter and features thin, 1.8 mm pockets in the upper heel and toe that expand the SWEET ZONE™ area on the face.  The forged PWRSHELLTM insert features a deep undercut sole design and an all new 1.2 mm internal Speed Channel that absorbs and returns more energy to the ball for faster ball speeds and increased launch angle.
    • Co-Molded Medallion – a 3-piece multi-material medallion combines Aluminum, a soft Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) and Acrylic foam that improves sound and feel by damping vibrations at impact.
    • CNC Milled Face and Grooves – CNC precision milling delivers more accurate lofts and allows for tighter tolerances on face roughness and groove shaping to optimize spin and trajectory control.  Unlike cast grooves, which can vary in shape, CNC milling reduces the variability in the groove shapes to ensure that the performance is consistent in every iron.
    • Progressive Spin Technology™ – The long irons, mid irons and wedges are each designed with different groove shapes to deliver specific performance characteristics.  CNC milled V-grooves in the 4-7 irons improve distance by reducing spin for increased distance and flight time, while U-grooves in the 8-PW optimize spin for improved control and accuracy.  Tighter-spaced wedge grooves in the GW and SW maximize spin and improve trajectory control for enhanced greenside precision.
    • Progressive Hosel Lengths – Shorter hosel lengths in the long irons position the CG lower to promote higher launch, while progressively taller hosel lengths in the short irons and wedges raise the CG progressively to promote a lower, more controlled ball flight.

  • COBRA CONNECT – The COBRA CONNECT, Powered By Arccos™ system features electronically enabled grips that work in conjunction with the Arccos Caddie app to give users the ability to track their stats and improve their game. **Consumers who purchase a COBRA 6-piece (or greater) iron or combo set will receive complimentary screw in sensors, or smart, COBRA CONNECT grips, to utilize on the rest of the clubs in their bag, including one putter sensor (valued at $350).

The KING F9 SPEEDBACKTM irons in variable length, (MAP: $799 Steel/$899 Graphite) come standard with regular or stiff KBS Tour 90 shafts and black Lamkin Crossline COBRA CONNECT grips.  The stock steel set make-up is 5-GW with optional 4-iron and SW complements available through custom. The KING F9 SPEEDBACK irons are also available in a Graphite Combo Set ($999) utilizing Fujikura ATMOS 60-gram shafts in S, R or LITE flexes.  The set makeup includes a 5H and 6-PW, GW. A Steel Combo Set in the same make up is available in Custom. Both set makeups (iron set and combo set) are available in right-hand and left-hand configurations.

KING F9 Women’s SPEEDBACKTM Irons ($899 Graphite Combo Set) utilize the same cutting-edge technologies as the men’s set, with a design engineered specifically for the needs of female golfers. The stock women’s SPEEDBACK irons come in a Graphite Combo Set makeup featuring a 5H, 6H and 7-PW, SW.  The KING F9 women’s SPEEDBACK irons come standard with Fujikura ATMOS 55-gram shafts in ladies flex and black & rose gold Lamkin Crossline COBRA CONNECT (standard men’s size) grips.

COBRA® Delivers Revolutionary SPEEDBACK Technology in ONE Length Design

In addition, COBRA® Golf is introducing an updated option for players who opt for the consistency and simplicity of a ONE Length set configuration.  The KING F9 SPEEDBACKTM ONE Length Irons offer all the same ground-breaking technologies as the variable set, with some additional improvements geared towards optimizing the performance of ONE Length irons including:

  • ONE Length Configuration – Engineered using matching 7-iron length and head weights, a ONE Length set simplifies the game by promoting a single, repeatable setup and swing motion through the set, leading to more confidence and consistency.
  • Wider Long Iron Soles – Wider soles in 4-6 irons deliver lower, deeper CG for higher, towering ball flights.
  • Progressive Shaft Weighting – 3 different KBS shaft weights – a lightweight, Tour 80 in the 4-6 iron promotes high launch, a mid-weight Tour 90 in the 7-9 iron delivers control and accuracy, and a heavy-weight Tour Wedge in the PW-SW improves feel and precision on specialty shots around the greens.
  • Updated Lie Angles – more upright long iron lie angles are used to create more towering trajectories while slightly flatter lie angles in the wedges create straighter, more penetrating trajectory.

The KING F9 SPEEDBACKTM ONE Length irons (MAP: $799 Steel/$899 Graphite) come standard with blue Lamkin Crossline COBRA CONNECT grips. The stock steel set make-up is 5-PW, GW with optional 4-iron and SW complements available through custom.  The ONE Length irons are also available in a Graphite Combo Set utilizing Fujikura ATMOS ONE Length 60-gram shafts in S, R or LITE flexes. The set makeup includes a 5H and 6-PW, GW. A Steel Combo Set in the same make up is available through custom.  ONE Length irons are available in RH, and LH is available through custom.

Providing the perfect complement to the SPEEDBACK Irons, COBRA is also unveiling its new KING F9 SPEEDBACKTM Hybrids, available in variable length or ONE Length designs.  COBRA has integrated its breakthrough SPEEDBACK technology with its popular Baffler® rails to produce the highest performing Hybrid in its history.  This Hybrid’s performance can be attributed to the following key technologies:

  • SPEEDBACKTM w BAFFLER® Technology – This year, COBRA has improved upon its BAFFLER® Rails by adding SPEEDBACK™, a low, back weight structure that sits in-between the two rails, which are strategically centered around the clubs’ center of gravity.  These technologies fuse to deliver the best combination of low CG and improved turf interaction, increasing ball and club speed to maximize distance from any lie.
  • Forged 455 High-Strength Stainless Steel Face – maximizes the amount of flex at impact for increased ball speeds and distance across the entire face.

CLEVELAND GOLF INTRODUCES THE NEW HUNTINGTON BEACH SOFT PUTTERS

CLEVELAND GOLF INTRODUCES THE NEW HUNTINGTON BEACH SOFT PUTTERS

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – Nov. 2, 2018 – Cleveland Golf® is proud to announce the new Huntington Beach SOFT putters, where science and artistry come together for your best putting performance. Get the distance control, soft feel and confidence to sink more putts with the new Huntington Beach SOFT, which officially launches on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018.

“Cleveland Golf putters have always been a great value, but the Huntington Beach SOFT Putter, featuring a speed optimized face and premium finish, takes it to a new level,” said Jeff Brunski, Vice President of Research and Development.

The hallmark of the new Huntington Beach SOFT putters is Cleveland Golf’s proprietary Speed Optimized Face Technology (SOFT). SOFT helps normalize ball speed across the face of the putter, meaning, no matter where you strike your putt, you get consistent speed and consistent distance.

A unique aspect of these Huntington Beach SOFT putters is a custom face-milling pattern for every head shape. Rather than relying on the same face pattern on every putter shape, Huntington Beach SOFT utilizes a gradual face-milling pattern on higher MOI models, while using a more rapid milling variation on lower MOI models.

“The Huntington Beach SOFT putter’s speed optimized face is one of the most advanced technologies available to improve putting performance,” Brunski said. “You’ll make more putts – plain and simple. The fact we’re delivering it at such an aggressive price point makes this one of the best values in the market.”

Cleveland Golf’s Huntington Beach SOFT putters feature a coarse, diamond-shaped milling pattern to soften the feel at impact while increasing friction for a more consistent roll. Each one is crafted from soft 304 Stainless Steel, delivering a better feel and more confidence on the green.

Key Innovations Inside Huntington Beach SOFT:

  • Speed Optimized Face Technology: Provides consistent distance and speed control on every putt, even mishits.
  • Diamond CNC Milling Pattern: Deep grooves provide soft feel with a true roll that starts on-line.
  • Optimized Center of Gravity Location: Strategic weight redistribution provides solid feel and stability for straighter putts.
  • Tour-Proven Shapes: Six tour-proven models will suit any golfer’s stroke and style.

Featuring classic designs and highly advanced shapes, the new Huntington Beach SOFT putters deliver score-dropping technology in a finely crafted package to help golfers of all skill levels improve their performance on the greens.

Huntington Beach SOFT putters are available for $129.99 MAP with 16 unique color selections and four different color fill areas, providing plenty of personalization options to meet your needs. Color personalization is available on each model for an additional $10.

DeChambeau and Bridgestone Come Up Aces in Vegas!

“The Golf Scientist” Relies on Bridgestone TOUR B X Ball in Dazzling Victory at

Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

(COVINGTON, GA) – Bridgestone Golf Tour star Bryson DeChambeau opened his new season in much the same fashion he closed out the last, with a scintillating one-shot victory at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.  The win in the desert gives DeChambeau his fifth for his career (all with Bridgestone balls), and an astonishing three wins in his last five PGA TOUR starts.

Relying on Bridgestone Golf’s TOUR B X ball, the young star exhibited pinpoint iron play and impressive driving performance in his march to victory. In fact, DeChambeau ranked among the top 10 in driving accuracy, greens-in-regulation, birdies, eagles and strokes gained: total. The win moved him to No.5 in the Official World Golf Rankings propelling him to the highest ranking of his career to date.

In a city infamous for the ups-and-downs of its visitors, DeChambeau bucked that trend, proving to be a model of consistency in firing rounds of 66-65-66-66 for a tournament total 21-under par.   Not that his performance wasn’t without gambles, including a tournament-clinching 58-foot eagle on the 16th hole of Sunday’s final round to give him the lead for good.

“After the way I finished the 2018 season, I couldn’t wait to get back out here and continue the momentum I had,” said DeChambeau. “The TOUR B X continues to be a golf ball I can count on in the biggest of moments. I can’t overstate how important it is for my confidence down-the-stretch to have a ball in play that I have previously relied on in the heat of the battle.”

DeChambeau switched to the TOUR B X in late 2017 after extensive experimentation revealed a significant impact on his driving, iron play, short game and putting.  He also wears Bridgestone’s new TOUR B FIT Glove featuring high-end Cabretta leather with FIT technology to ensure a soft feel, consistent grip and excellent durability.

“Bryson continues to wow golf fans worldwide with his intelligent and exciting play,” said Dan Murphy, President and CEO of Bridgestone Golf. “He is primed for a great year ahead and we are proud to be the ball brand he is trusting in his quest to take his game to the next level of excellence.”

The TOUR B Series golf balls represent Bridgestone’s most technologically advanced models to date. During development, company engineers used data from nearly 350,000 in-person ball fittings, combined with insights from leading third-party industry sources, to identify needs of specific player types. They then drew on more than 800 golf ball patents to determine which proprietary technologies would most benefit each type of swing characteristics identified.

TPC Summerlin, Designed by Bobby Weed Golf Design, Hosts 2018 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida (November 3, 2018) – TPC Summerlin, in Las Vegas, designed by Bobby Weed Golf Design (BobbyWeed.com) with Fuzzy Zoeller serving as a consultant, played host this past week to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, an official PGA Tour event. Patrick Cantlay is the defending champion.

“We know this year’s event will feature excellent play and exciting competition,” said Bobby Weed. “”Summerlin has hosted a Tour tournament for over twenty years, and I am proud the course remains interesting and fun.”

While challenging enough for the best players in the world, TPC Summerlin has multiple tees on each hole, enabling golfers of all abilities to enjoy the exceptional layout. The course, which opened in 1991, is a member of the Tournament Players Club network operated by the PGA Tour.

Patrick Lindsay, executive director of Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, said, “We are proud to call TPC Summerlin the host course for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. It is a course that the PGA Tour professionals enjoy playing, and we’re excited about this year’s field and the new activations outside the ropes.

“The management and staff at TPC Summerlin are integral in the tournament’s success.”

TPC Summerlin’s par-72, 7,243-yard layout was carved from a magnificent swath of rugged desert terrain. The average elevation of the course is approximately 2,700 feet above sea level.

“Summerlin was designed to be a rich desert oasis, with copses of mesquite trees and native grasses,” explained Weed.

TPC Summerlin was the first golf course in Nevada to be certified as an Audubon Sanctuary System by Audubon International. Great care was taken during the construction of TPC Summerlin to preserve and protect natural wildlife habitats.

About Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

The Shriners Open is the second event in the FedEx Cup and is played annually in October.

The Shriners Open débuted on the PGA Tour as the Panasonic Las Vegas Pro Celebrity Classic in 1983. The tournament has been hosted by numerous courses before settling at its current venue, TPC Summerlin. The tournament’s champions list includes some of the most recognizable and in some cases, most decorated names in golf: Fuzzy Zoeller, Greg Norman, Davis Love III, Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk and Webb Simpson. At the same time, the Shriners Open has been a breakthrough tournament for several Tour players who earned their first victory on the PGA Tour at TPC Summerlin, including Tiger Woods.

About Bobby Weed Golf Design

Acclaimed golf course designer Bobby Weed specializes in design, renovation and repurposing. His work features a balance of visual appeal, sustainability and playability, all informed by an environmentally-sensitive aesthetic and an exceptional hands-on, holistic approach.

Weed began his professional career with an extended apprenticeship with Pete Dye, launching a collaboration of over 35 years’ duration and a lifelong friendship. Hired in 1983 by the PGA Tour as the Golf Course Superintendent at TPC Sawgrass, Weed went on to become the Tour’s in-house designer from 1987-1996. In 1994, Weed’s career reached an apex with the formation of his own design firm, where he continues to “handcraft” golf courses.

Chris Monti, senior design associate at Bobby Weed Golf Design, has been with the firm for over 20 years, working seamlessly with Weed in total involvement in every aspect of the design and execution process. Monti holds a B.S. in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University, and spent a year studying the design of historic courses in the British Isles.

Repurposing helps clubs and communities preserve golf while surmounting economic and other challenges. Weed’s skill, vision and business acumen coalesce to result in successful, refined and durable golf course design.
