Bridgestone Golf Unveils TOUR B JGR Clubs

Bridgestone Golf Unveils TOUR B JGR Clubs

Drivers, Fairway Woods, Hybrids and Irons Available October 8

– Bridgestone Golf – innovator and manufacturer of premium golf balls, clubs and accessories – unveils the next generation of its popular JGR club lines, which will be available at select retailers, club fitters and online beginning October 8.

Designed to provide maximum performance for a variety of golfers, the TOUR B JGR collection consists of new models in the driver, fairway wood, hybrid and iron categories. The lines are already garnering attention from PGA TOUR superstars, as Bridgestone Golf staff players Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker replaced their former drivers with the TOUR B JGR model earlier this summer.

“After my switch to the new TOUR B JGR, I’ve seen an increase in distance and a more consistent ball flight,” says Kuchar. “The change was a no brainer.”

“I didn’t expect to make the switch so easily but when I compared the data on trackman, I was seeing three mph more ball speed and an extra six yards,” adds Snedeker.

Beyond ringing endorsements from TOUR players, the JGR lines are equally capable of helping mid-to-high handicappers find their edge thanks to a plethora of innovative features. The driver, fairway wood and hybrid models were engineered with Bridgestone’s Power Mill Face Design, producing low spin and stabilizing the ball at impact to increase quality compression time. Additionally, Boost Wave Crown technology creates internal and external channels that allow the crown to flex at impact for a higher initial launch and ball speed.

Two new JGR iron sets are also packed with innovation. The HF2 line is a forged, game improvement cavity back set designed for mid handicappers. Constructed with an ultrathin face that promotes exceptional distance, the heads include a rubber polymer insert to enhance feel, reduce vibration, and ensure crisp sound at impact. For higher handicap players, Bridgestone offers HF1 irons, featuring a thick, hollow cavity design that provides easy launching distance in an extremely low COG forged head. Variable face thickness provides responsive feedback on hits across the face.

“Our JGR lines have built up a loyal following since the original launch in 2015. The new TOUR B JGR builds on that success by providing golfers with the combination of style and forgiveness.” says Zack Kupperbusch, Golf Club Marketing. “While our brand is commonly associated with the best golf balls in the world, JGR is an excellent example of how we’re bringing innovation to all corners of the industry.”

Innisbrook Renovates South Course, Guest Suites Ahead of 50th Anniversary

Rebirth of a Legend: Innisbrook Transforms Guest Suites & Renovates South Course in Preparation for Golden Celebration

Renowned Golf Resort Continues Series of Improvements in Anticipation of 50th anniversary

TAMPA BAY, FL (August 20, 2018) – When the idea to build Innisbrook, now a Salamander Resort, was conceived, the concept was both exciting and disruptive: a luxurious Florida golf resort with multiple courses and condominium-style accommodations. After it opened in 1970, the Tampa Bay area property quickly vaulted into the echelons of the country’s finest golf resorts, and has remained there ever since thanks to the addition of many more amenities, the staging of a PGA TOUR event for the past 29 years, and an owner dedicated to quality and service. Its popularity has never been greater.

Now, as preparations begin to celebrate its 50th anniversary begin, the resort today announced it will completely remodel the interiors of all of its spacious guest accommodations by the end of 2018. In addition, the resort will complete renovation work on its South Course this fall. These enhancements follow many other improvements made by Innisbrook Owner Sheila Johnson since she purchased the property and Salamander Hotels & Resorts, the company Johnson founded, began managing it.

“Our suites have long been favorites of golfers, families, and conference groups. The transformation of our guest experience will provide fresher, more attractive and consistent accommodations,” says Innisbrook Managing Director Mike Williams. “We are excited to further improve the quality of each and every stay, while the renovation of the South Course’s greens will give golfers another firm and consistent surface on which to play.”

The accommodation remodeling program will upgrade the resort’s executive-, one- and two-bedroom condo-style suites to feature an appealing and modern look. Each unit will be completely refreshed to receive all new furniture, furnishings, flooring, stainless-steel appliances, quartz counters, cabinets, lighting, draperies and other decor.

The celebrated golf resort’s suites are located in low-rise lodge buildings, which were designed to blend into the property’s 900 wooded acres through the use of a “back-to-nature” style of architecture. The buildings feature steeply sloped, Mansard-style rooflines that deliberately sit below the treetops to offer a sense of seclusion for the guest. The remodeling work will begin in September and is expected to conclude before the end of 2018. Amenities and public spaces will not be affected, and therefore guest impact during this timeframe will be minimal.

Innisbrook’s popular South Course, one of four championship layouts at the resort, is nearing the end of a five-month renovation and will re-open this fall. All the greens have been planted with TifEagle Bermuda Grass – the same surface used at the resort’s celebrated Copperhead Course, which hosts the PGA TOUR’s Valspar Championship every March. In addition to the replacement of the greens, the project also includes the expansion of the greens to their original size, and re-sodding and improvement of all bunker edging.

The suite makeovers and South Course restoration are just the latest in a series of improvements Salamander Hotels & Resorts have made at Innisbrook. Other enhancements include:

· Restoration of the famed Copperhead Golf Course

· Renovations to the Island Golf Course

· Expansion of the Osprey Clubhouse

· Addition of the Market Salamander Grille & Bar

· Opening of the Salamander Spa and Fitness Center

· Refurbishing of its 65,000 square feet of Conference Space

· Revamping of the Loch Ness Pool Complex

· Installation of new greens on the North Golf Course

Through September 30, Innisbrook is offering a 25 percent savings and a $50 resort credit with a stay of two nights or more. The package also includes complimentary golf for juniors under 17 with a paying adult, complimentary breakfast for children under 12 with a paying adult, and complimentary shuttle to nearby Honeymoon Island. Cobra Offers Clubs For Moderate Swing Speed Players

F-MAX Superlite Irons & Hybrids are COBRA’s Lightest, Easiest-to-Hit Ever

Carlsbad, Calif. (September 13, 2018) – COBRA Golf, a leader in golf club innovation and design, introduced today the lightest, easiest-to-hit irons and hybrids in company history.  Building off the success of the original F-MAX irons which debuted in 2017, the 2018 F-MAX men’s and women’s Superlite irons and combo sets feature incredibly light-weight technologies and designs that provide more club speed, distance and easier launch than ever before.

The COBRA Golf F-MAX Superlite Irons take ultralight technology to the next level.  The re-engineered clubhead is 4-grams lighter, and maintains the same high MOI, delivering optimized forgiveness and stability.  A 5-gram lighter shaft and a 7-gram lighter grip design, results in 16 grams in weight-savings ensuring the fastest club and ball speed possible for golfers with moderate swing speeds. Continuing the weight minimization theme, COBRA’s new Superlite shafts offer for the perfect blend of speed, distance and launch. The F-MAX Superlite Irons also feature an extremely comfortable, Midsize LAMKIN REL 360 grip (the women’s irons feature a standard men’s size grip) that is engineered using a softer, 7 grams lighter, rubber compound, delivering a lighter swing weight and improved comfort on longer approach shots. Complementing its lightest shaft and grip offering ever, COBRA Golf has designed F-MAX Superlite Irons with the following industry-leading super game improvement technologies:

  • Optimized Center of Gravity – Progressive hosel lengths strategically position the CG (Center of Gravity) in each iron to produce the desired launch and trajectory. Shorter hosels in the long irons lower the CG to promote higher launch and distance, while taller hosels in the short iron wedges raise the CG to promote lower, controlled trajectories.
  • Progressive Offset Design – gradually increases from minimal offset in the wedges and short irons that require more precision to maximum offset in the long irons where  increased launch & right to left draw bias.
  • Low CG/High MOI Design – Weight is positioned in the low heel and low toe areas to increase forgiveness and stability on off-center hits for straighter, more accurate approach shots.
  • Low Profile with Deep Undercut Design – A low profile shape paired with a deep undercut cavity design work in unison to get the ball airborne quicker, increase ball speeds and create easy launch to optimize carry and overall distance.
  • Greater Lofts – Greater iron lofts maximize flight trajectory, resulting in increased carry distances, and improved stopping power into greens.
  • Premium Chrome Finish – a nickel, two-tone chrome plating provides beautiful aesthetics and increased durability for great looking, longer lasting irons.
  • Specialty Wedge Design – A specialty wedge design in the GW and SW provides added versatility and shot control around the greens.

“Building off of the success of our original F-MAX lightweight design, we’ve reengineered Superlite to be our lightest, fastest and most forgiving game improvement clubs ever.  Any player with a moderate swing speed will benefit from the design innovations in this product line,” said Tom Olsavsky, Vice President of R&D for COBRA Golf.

The COBRA GOLF F-MAX Superlite Irons are available in a variety of set options.  See below for each option and pricing.

  • Men’s Steel Irons ($599) – 7-piece, stock 5-PW, GW set features a KBS Superlite steel shaft in stiff and regular flex; a graphite offering is available through custom, utilizing a COBRA Superlite 55 gram shaft in stiff and regular and a 50 gram shaft in lite flex; both available in right-hand and left-hand versions. New Golf Course At St. Andrews, Scotland Continues To Take Shape

New Golf Course At St. Andrews, Scotland Continues To Take Shape

Designer Tom Weiskopf Visits The Feddinch Club

ST. ANDREWS, Fife, Scotland (Aug. 21, 2018) – Embracing the natural balance and flow of the coastal landscape overlooking Scotland’s eastern shore and sculpted by 1973 Open Champion and internationally acclaimed golf course designer Tom Weiskopf, the course at The Feddinch Club is the first to be built in St. Andrews since 2008.

The course has already been routed and following Weiskopf’s recent inspection, various design changes will be made and the first stages of drainage installed.

According to Ewan McKay, Chairman of The Feddinch Club, “Tom has created a genuinely timeless design that will provide a pleasurable and memorable experience for players of all levels of expertise, who may walk, with or without caddies, or use carts, which is exceptional in this area.”

Weiskopf, whose expertise as a golf course designer has resulted in 65 golf courses – seven ranked among the Top 100 in the world – has fully applied his experience, creativity, commitment to detail, and philosophy to this golf course.

“This is not a links golf course, although the site has some characteristics of links golf,” explained Weiskopf. “There are blind and semi-blind shots, and open native grasses in the rough areas. It’s a parkland course with very good variation of elevation and a continual change of direction from hole to hole.”

To enhance enjoyment and reduce the time taken per round, distances between greens and succeeding tees are generally short, the fairways are wide and fast running, and each expansive green will present interesting challenges that will require a fair test of skill.

The Feddinch Club is the only private, member-owned, family-oriented club at St. Andrews with its own course. It lies just outside the town boundary to the south, enjoying an enviable location with views extending over the town of St. Andrews and across the sea to Carnoustie.

At par 72, the course will play to a full length of 7,373 yards from the back tees, 6,600 yards from the middle distance, and 5,484 yards from the forward markers.

Unusual features include a large double green for the 9th and 18th holes immediately in front of the clubhouse and a short 19th hole that allows unsettled competitions to be determined without returning to the first tee, and also decides who is to pay for the first round of beverages!

Complementing the golf course is a comprehensive, professional-quality practice facility that features a 400-yard driving range with a variety of targets and a dedicated short game area with a set of bunkers relevant to the course design. Additionally, an extensive and meticulously prepared practice putting green will reflect authentic on-course conditions.

The facilities are exclusively for the enjoyment of The Feddinch Club members and their guests, who will have the pleasure of many special benefits not available at other private clubs.  There will be three classes of membership.

Club Membership permits unlimited and complimentary play for spouse or partner and immediate offspring under 30 years of age and may be bequeathed, transferred, or sold, subject to Club Rules.

Founder Membership provides the same benefits as Club Membership, but also delivers rewards in the form of annual credits to be spent at the Club.

Corporate Membership allows the appointment of up to 10 nominees, who may be changed at the calendar year’s end, and provides guaranteed accommodations during the week of the Open Championship, as well as the possibility of financial benefits.

The luxurious clubhouse will combine private club and resort elements, resulting in the perfect lifestyle option for those who want to experience and enjoy all that St. Andrews offers, without the responsibilities or expense of maintaining a second residence.

“The Club will be, for all intents and purposes, a ‘home away from home’ for its members, who may call upon the concierge team to organize play on the many famous courses within easy reach, as well as trips to places of interest,” McKay said.

The clubhouse complex will comprise a mixture of 45 luxurious resort-type guest rooms of generous sizes with restaurant, bar, spa and wellness center, meeting rooms, fine dining rooms, and associated golf facilities, plus a gated entrance to maximize privacy and security.

The complex is designed by G1 Architects of Glasgow—the same firm that created the clubhouses at Kingsbarns and Castle Stuart—known for its innovative and intuitive design approach and unique solutions to maximize light and space.
