“We worked relentlessly to create distinctive grip technology that would help golfers of all skill levels reach their full potential, and we achieved it by combining premium materials with innovative designs,” says Harris MacNeill, President and CEO of CHAMP/MacNeill Engineering Worldwide. “Similar to our category leadership position in spikes, we anticipate retailers and golfers will rapidly adopt the performance enhancements found in each of our new grips. We have something for every player and budget.”

PGA Expo attendees will also see the new FLYteePRO, which features a soft, shock absorbing tip constructed with extremely resilient material to dramatically increase durability and last multiple rounds. Facilities will see measurable improvement in course operations, appearance and profitability by reducing tee consumption, decreasing tee litter and lowering purchasing expenses. Like all FLYtee models, it features a six-pronged head and shallow cup, which reduces friction for improved distance and accuracy.

As the official tee of Demo Night, Zarma FLYTee will be used in all club testing areas on Monday, August 19 from 6-9 pm at the Las Vegas Golf Center.

KENTWOOL Launches High-Performance, Golf-Specific Compression Sock
Made-in-the-USA Merino Wool Line Enhances Comfort and Circulation

(GREENVILLE, SC) – KENTWOOL – the 170-year-old, family-owned premier textile innovator and maker of performance socks specifically engineered for golfers – announces launch of The Graduate, the sport’s first merino wool graduated compression sock.

Made-in-the-USA and now available at, The Graduate helps promote proper circulation via a compression profile that fits snuggly around the ankle and gradually loosens as it rises along the calf. These knee-high socks are designed to increase recirculation of blood from the foot and lower leg to the heart, helping to relieve fatigue and cramps while speeding recovery.

“Our entire collection was born from the idea of creating socks that help golfers feel and play their best,” says Mark Kent, President and CEO of KENTWOOL. “We’re taking that to another level by combining our signature comfort and blister-free guarantee with proven medical research to create the ultimate compression sock.”

Retailing for $40.00 and available in natural or black colors, The Graduate is exceptionally breathable to keep players comfortable in all conditions. It features the same proprietary blend of natural and high-tech performance fibers found across the entire KENTWOOL line. This creates an innovative, micro-climate system that provides superior cushioning, moisture management, odor defense, durability and abrasion-resistance.

KENTWOOL socks – including Low Profile, Tour Profile, Tour Standard and 19th Hole models – are trusted by scores of Tour stars, including Bubba Watson, Matt Kuchar, Jonathan Byrd, Ryann O’Toole, Peter Jacobsen, Duffy Waldorf, Brendon de Jonge, Tom Gillis, Jane Park, Catriona Matthew, Charles Warren, Kevin Johnson, Kristy McPherson, Shasta Averyhardt, Jenny Suh, Sarah Kemp, Jenny Gleason, Meaghan Francella and Jenny Hong.

Founded in 1843, KENTWOOL continues to be one of the nation’s longest-running, family-owned textile companies.  KENTWOOL is the only company in the western hemisphere — and one of 50 in the world — to receive the Usterized Quality Certification indicating the highest level of quality assurance in yarn production.

An avid golfer, KENTWOOL CEO Mark Kent had the idea to produce the “World’s Best Golf Sock” after standing in the 18th fairway of the BMW Nationwide Tour Pro-Am tending to blistered, bleeding feet instead of concentrating on the eagle opportunity guaranteeing him a spot in the final round.

Born from that moment is golf’s leading, premium merino wool golf sock. It enables golfers of all abilities to play their best while benefiting from abrasion and fatigue resistance, as well as KENTWOOL’s blister-free guarantee. KENTWOOL utilizes its nearly two-century-old heritage of superiority in textiles to create socks which draw upon wool’s natural and cool performance fibers for moisture management, sheer comfort and other performance-enhancing benefits.

Based in Greenville, SC, all KENTWOOL products are made in the USA.

Kendall Academy’s success is its students’ success

Kendall Academy’s success is its students’ success

(Ypsilanti, Mich.) Webster’s Dictionary says an Academy offers “instruction or training in a special field.” Plato offered instruction in a park in Athens, Greece. Dave Kendall shouldn’t be confused with Plato, at least not yet. But the Kendall Academy is on the border of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, Michigan’s second oldest city named after another famous Greek—General Demetrius Ypsilanti, a hero in the Greek war for independence.

Kendall’s instructional park is at Miles of Golf where it teaches, coaches and trains champion golfers from juniors to seniors. And this being PGA Championship week, it’s a fitting time to review the progress of teachers and students alike.

Kendall, twice named Teacher of the Year by the Michigan PGA, and his staff have helped high school boys and girls win state championships and later move up to college squads. Other students are excelling in major state amateur events and on the professional tours. In all, there are nine instructors at Kendall Academy—Kendall, Paul Haase, Tom Harding, Scott Hayes, Nick Ma, Frank McAuliffe, Jack Seltzer, Sandy Wagner and Jim Yuhas—making it Michigan’s largest golf faculty under one roof.

“We all receive so much satisfaction to see our students perform well in competition,” said Kendall. “As Bobby Jones once wisely said, ‘there’s golf and then there’s tournament golf.’ There’s so much to learn about the latter and we’re here to help.”

A two-time Michigan Senior Open champion, Kendall finished eighth in the recent Michigan PGA’s Boyne Tournament of Champions and where one of his longtime young pupils also competed as a former state junior champion. Earlier this summer that same player won a prestigious AJGA event at Treetops and this fall he’ll attend college in North Carolina on a golf scholarship.  And Matt Harmon, Kendall’s student since high school who later excelled at Michigan State, is again competing on the Webdotcom Tour. Earlier this summer, he qualified for the U.S. Open at Merion.

Haase, also voted Teacher of the Year by his peers, is known for his work through various age groups, juniors, high schoolers, pros and seniors. Seltzer, a member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame and winner of every major state professional title, has worked with dozens of All-State golfers and is deeply involved in Kendall Academy’s Elite Junior Development Program.

“Many people are surprised to learn how busy I am during the winter and even over the holidays,” said Haase. “But that’s when many of my students work on major swing changes ahead of the competitive season. For instance, during the second half of last December, my lesson sheet was booked solid because that’s when my college students were back in the area.”

This past spring, Haase was thrilled to see one of his students win a Michigan boys’ state high school individual championship and later was named “Mr. Golf.” His female students this summer won Golf Association of Michigan championships in open and age division play while Britney Hamilton, another longtime student and a former women’s state champion, is competing successfully on the Symetra Tour, the gateway tour to the LPGA.

Bill Zylstra, a member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame, has credited his work with Haase for lifting him to Golfweek’s ranking as the top senior amateur in the country.

The Kendall Academy’s Elite Junior Development Program (EJDP) has seen its graduates compete in top national tournaments. As its Coordinator, Seltzer is a firm believer in a sound foundation thanks to growing up in Flint’s outstanding junior program.

“The most important factor for success is desire. Talent is also key but not as much as the sheer desire and will to be a better player,” said Seltzer. One of Seltzer’s junior students, and a former member of the EJDP, qualified this summer for two national junior events and will playing college golf this fall on a scholarship.

Other teachers at Kendall Academy continue to work with juniors and amateurs, many of whom have won club and local titles this season. It’s all about getting better and performing well at tournament golf—just the way Bobby Jones or Plato would have liked it.

Offering year round instruction, Kendall Academy is located at Miles of Golf, a full-service golf operation offering a retail store, practice & teaching facility, and club-fitting center in Ypsilanti. For more info, call 877-973-9005 or visit and  For more details on the EJDP, contact Jack Seltzer at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Nike Athlete Tiger Woods dominates the field to capture his 79th PGA Tour victory

Nike Athlete Tiger Woods dominates the field to capture his 79th PGA Tour victory
-The top-ranked player in the world claims his eighth WGC Bridgestone Invitational win with the VR_S Covert Driver-

BEAVERTON, Ore. (August 5, 2013) – Nike Athlete Tiger Woods posted a career-tying best score of 61 in the second round of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational to build up a 7-stroke lead heading into the weekend—and he never looked back. Woods maintained his impressive lead at Firestone Country Club to clinch his 18th World Golf Championship title and his first win with the VR_S Covert Tour driver since putting it into play at The Open Championship just two weeks ago.

The victory is Woods’ eighth at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational, matching the PGA Tour-record he also holds at Bay Hill for most wins in the same tournament.

Woods took full advantage of his 14-club Nike arsenal en route to the 79th PGA Tour win of his career and fifth of the season. He averaged more than 315 yards off the tee with his VR_S Covert Tour driver and blasted a 379-yard drive on the par-5 16th hole in the second round, the second-longest drive of the tournament.

Woods’ VR_S Covert Tour prototype driver features innovative cavity back technology that delivers the stability the top-ranked player in the world wants while moving weight to the perimeter to increase forgiveness and add even more distance to off-center shots.

“Something I’m very proud of is how many tournaments I’ve been able to win consistently, year in and year out, and how many World Golf Championships I’ve been able to win,” Woods said. “I played well today and played conservatively but also played very aggressive to my spots. I feel like my game is pretty consistent, and the weeks I’ve putted well I’ve been able to win,” Woods said.

Woods led the field with 19 birdies and was fifth in putts per greens in regulation with his Nike Method 001 putter.

Woods also wore apparel from the Nike TW Collection as well as the iconic Nike TW ’14 shoe, featuring Nike Free-Inspired technology.

Woods now turns his attention to the final major of the year, the PGA Championship, at Oak Hill, which begins this week in Rochester, NY.
