Ian Poulter Steps Out in Ferrari Golf Leather Shoe and Ferrari Luxury Golf Bag in First Round of Deutsche Bank Championship

CARLSBAD, CA (August 31, 2012) – Today, Ian Poulter stepped onto the TPC Boston golf course wearing the Ferrari Golf Leather Shoe and using a custom version of the Ferrari Luxury Golf Bag; both items from the Ferrari Golf Collection engineered by COBRA PUMA GOLF that hit retail stores earlier this month.

Ian Poulter wore the handmade leather shoes for the first round of the Deutsche Bank Championship. The Ferrari Golf Leather Shoes are handcrafted in Italy with genuine full grain leather upper and sole. Available in white or black, the shoe is the epitome of fashion and technology. Utilizing PUMA®’s S2Quill technology, the shoe provides superior traction, stability and support while on course. The delicate stitching in the shoe is designed after the interior of a Ferrari car and the sleek silhouette is an understated, luxury look that had heads turning all over the golf course today.

The Ferrari Luxury Golf Bag is crafted in Poltrana Frau Leather, the same leather used in Ferrari GT cars. Ian used a custom black version in today’s round of the D
eutsche Bank Championship. Additional accessories such as the Ferrari Golf Luxury Shoe Bag and Ferrari Golf Luxury Duffel are also made in Poltrana Frau Leather.

The Ferrari Golf Collection was developed through a collaboration with COBRA PUMA GOLF and Ferrari SpA. It brings the most innovative technologies from COBRA PUMA GOLF engineers and Ferrari aerodynamic engineers together with premium materials, packaging and unquestionable style. In addition to the Ferrari Golf Leather Shoe and Ferrari Performance Golf Bag, the collection includes the COBRA Ferrari Driver, Ferrari Golf apparel, Ferrari Luxury Golf Bag and additional smaller accessories such as performance golf gloves, performance visors and more.

The Ferrari Golf Collection engineered by COBRA PUMA GOLF is a full offering of luxury equipment, apparel, footwear and accessories. About the 2012 Ryder Cup
The Ryder Cup, among the last great professional sporting events where winning, and not prize money, is its own reward, spans 38 competitions over 84 years. The competition was born in 1927, when enterprising English seed merchant Samuel Ryder commissioned the casting of a gold trophy that bears his name. The U.S. Team defeated Great Britain, 9½ to 2½, in the inaugural matches in Worcester, Mass. The Ryder Cup, recognized as the pre-eminent international team event in golf, has since expanded to involve the finest players of Europe. The United States has posted 25 victories, Great Britain/Europe has won 11 times, and there have been two ties. Europe currently has possession of the Ryder Cup trophy, thanks to a thrilling 14½-13½ victory over the United States in October 2010 in Wales. The 39th Ryder Cup will be held Sept. 25-30 at Medinah (Ill.) Country Club.

Slammin’ Sam Beer Premieres at The Homestead Resort and Sam Snead’s Tavern

Slammin’ Sam Beer Premieres at The Homestead Resort and Sam Snead’s Tavern

Smoothest Beer in Golf™ Inspired by Legendary Sam Snead

(PINEHURST, NC) – Slammin’ Sam Beer Company announces The Homestead Resort and Sam Snead’s Tavern in Hot Springs, VA, have joined the growing list of fine establishments serving Slammin’ Sam™, a craft-brewed premium American lager inspired by the late Sam Snead, one of golf’s greatest gentlemen and champions.

Initially launched in early July at The Greenbrier Resort coinciding with the centennial of Snead’s birth, Slammin’ Sam is currently available in bottles and cans depicting vintage Snead images from the 1950s and 60s. A thirst-quenching premium lager geared toward active lifestyle consumers, Slammin’ Sam features an exceptionally balanced finish that makes it the Smoothest Beer in Golf.

“Dad would be real proud to know the place where he started caddying as a boy – and had so many great experiences – is now serving a beer with his name on it,” says Snead’s son, Jack. “If he were alive today I know he’d think this one is as smooth as his legendary swing.”

Made in Wisconsin by Stevens Point Brewery – a World Beer Cup multiple Gold Medal award winner – Slammin’ Sam showcases a proprietary recipe developed by Ray Klimovitz, recipient of the 2011 Distinguished Life Service Award from the Master Brewers Association of the Americas. It will soon be offered at renowned resorts throughout North America, as well as golf courses, restaurants, bars and other locations.

“Out of the gate, response to our beer, and the lasting resonance of the Snead name, has been off the charts,” says Casey Bierer, Founder and CEO of Slammin’ Sam Beer Company and a former producer-reporter with Golf Channel. “We’re working hard to meet demand and will soon announce a number of partnerships, including one with a U.S. Open host.”

Possessor of a prodigious, self-taught swing, Snead captured seven major championships and an all-time record 82 PGA Tour titles during a professional career spanning six decades. A player on seven and captain of three U.S. Ryder Cup teams, his countless honors include winning PGA Player of the Year (1949) and the Vardon Trophy (1938, 49, 50 and 55). Snead, who passed away in 2002 at age 89, is also a member of the West Virginia Golf Hall of Fame and World Golf Hall of Fame.

NZ Tiger Tour returns for 2013   with private, commercial jet options

NAPIER, New Zealand—The Tiger Tour, golf’s most intriguing and expensive itinerary, will return for 2013 with an upgrade: private jet service between venues all across New Zealand’s North and South islands.

Incorporating the best of New Zealand’s many attractions—including two of the top-rated golf courses in the world—the Tiger Tour features nine nights at three award-winning lodges and access to dozens of out-of-this-world destination options, including the famous glaciers of Milford Sound.

The Tiger Tour is the vision of Julian H. Robertson, Jr., the American hedge-fund legend whose immensely successful Tiger Fund inspired the Tour’s name. Robertson’s 30-year love affair with New Zealand inspired him to develop the three luxury lodges and two world-class golf courses that form the Tiger Tour’s core. To all of this, The Tiger Tour adds an extra-special component: the unique, disarming charm of its Kiwi hosts.

“The Tiger Tour is really Mr. Robertson’s invitation to see and experience this country as he sees it, and discover as he has the immense charm of New Zealand’s landscape and people,” said Ryan Brandeburg, director of golf at Kauri Cliffs GC in Bay of Islands, NZ, and its sister course, Cape Kidnappers GC here in Napier.

“Mr. Robertson is a golfer, and he has experienced first hand the advantages and practicalities of traveling about the country by private jet. Accordingly, for 2013, we’re offering two separate Tiger Tour itineraries, one with flights provided by Air New Zealand, and another where guests travel by private jet and EC-130 helicopter.”

The Tiger Tour by private jet, limited to a maximum of four couples, kicks off in Napier at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers on 11 March 2013. From there the Tour moves south to the alpine lake village of Queenstown, where guests stay at Matakauri Lodge, before proceeding to the subtropical far north and The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs. Pricing for this itinerary is NZ$24,900 per person (+15% NZ goods & services tax).

The Tiger Tour conducted via commercial airline begins at Matakauri Lodge on 15 April 2013, before moving to Cape Kidnappers and concluding at Kauri Cliffs. The price tag for this option is NZ$13,900 per person (+tax) and space is limited to eight couples.

Both itineraries are inclusive of all meals, green fees and ground transport between lodges, airports and excursions. It also includes air transport between the three lodges, though guests are responsible for delivering themselves to the initial property at the start of each tour. “This is the same way we ran the Tiger Tour in 2012,” said Brandeburg, “as we found it provides a lot more flexibility for people who want to add nights or other destinations within New Zealand and Australia.”

For more information and to request a detailed itinerary for both tours, contact the Lodge Reservations Team at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Robertson started Tiger Management Corp., also known as The Tiger Fund, in 1980, with US$8 million in capital. By 1998, its holdings had climbed to $22 billion. After closing his Tiger Fund in 2000, Robertson started to use his own capital, experience, and infrastructure to support and finance (to “seed”) select up-and-coming hedge fund managers. By September 2009, Robertson has helped launching 38 hedge funds (“Tiger Seeds”) in return for a stake in their fund management companies. Apart from those Tiger Seeds, a considerable number of analysts and managers Robertson employed and mentored at Tiger Management went out on their own and continue to operate some of the best-known hedge-fund firms, known as “Tiger Cubs”.

The Robertson family first ventured to New Zealand in 1978. The development of Kauri Cliffs, near the northern the tip of New Zealand’s North Island, came to fruition at the turn of the century. The golf club debuted in 2000, followed closely by The Lodge. The Tom Doak-designed Cape Kidnappers GC opened outside Napier in 2004, followed by The Farm at Cape Kidnappers a year later. Matakauri Lodge debuted in the South Island resort Mecca of Queenstown in 2010.

While Tiger Tour 2013 provides an opportunity to experience some of the most unique, contrasting, untouched scenery on Earth—from private pink-sand beaches and spectacular volcanoes, to lakes, mountains and monolithic glaciers—the stars of the Tiger Tour are undoubtedly the five Robertson-developed properties that serve as hosts.

In its 2012 ranking of all golf courses located outside the United States, Golf Digest U.S.—the definitive source of world course rankings since it pioneered the practice in 1966—placed both Cape Kidnappers GC (#6), and sister club, Kauri Cliffs GC (#19), in its prestigious Top 100. The ultra-scenic Jack’s Point Golf Club represents the golfing option for Tiger Tour guests in Queenstown.

The accommodations on the Tiger Tour are no less feted. Indeed, they have all three proved to be darlings of the international travel press:
* The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, a veranda-wrapped plantation house with adjoining guest cottages, was named the 6th best hotel in the world, according to the 2011 Condé Nast Traveller readers’ poll, and this year received a first-ever perfect score for service, as part of Travel+Leisure magazine’s annual World’s Best Awards.
* In 2010, The Farm at Cape Kidnappers was named to Travel+Leisure’s “World’s Top 50 Hotels”. It also earned Gold List status from Condé Nast Traveller for 2012.
* Located in the heart of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Matakauri would, within a year of its grand opening, earn a place on Condé Nast Traveller’s “2011 Hot List”, while simultaneously making a comprehensive N.Z. golf tour feasible.

“We’re certainly persuaded that no golf tour can top the Tiger Tour in terms of golf course and accommodation quality, but the Tiger Tour is frankly far more than a golf tour,” Brandeburg said. “There are just so many incredible activities included in these two itineraries: vineyard visits, horseback riding, ocean sailing, jet-boating trips down the Dart River, and heli-tours of Milford Sound and Hokianga Harbour at the very northern tip of New Zealand.

“Dining in all three lodges is a true gourmet experience. Merely exploring the properties at Cape Kidnappers and Kauri Cliffs, each some 2500 hectares in size, is something special. Where else would one be able to track and observe rare Kiwi birds in a natural habitat?

“We feel the Tiger Tour for 2013 is the quintessential New Zealand experience—the opportunity to best experience this country, in boutique luxury, while mingling with real Kiwis, human and otherwise.”

Dancin’ Dogg Golf Introduces Carolina Ocean Course for OptiShot Infrared Simulator

Dancin’ Dogg Golf Introduces Carolina Ocean Course for OptiShot Infrared Simulator

Prestigious Seaside Layout is Latest Replication of Major Championship Venue
Added to Premium Course Library

(TRAVERSE CITY, MI) – Dancin’ Dogg Golf – maker of the award-winning OptiShot Infrared Simulator, the ultimate in-home virtual golf system – continues to expand its library of premium courses with the addition of Carolina Ocean Course, a hyper-accurate replication of the Pete and Alice Dye design set to host the year’s final major championship.

Opened to great fanfare in 1991 as site of the dramatic “War by the Shore” Ryder Cup, Carolina Ocean Course perennially ranks among America’s greatest courses. With more seaside holes than any other layout in the Northern Hemisphere it’s a true work of beauty that leaves players susceptible to stiff winds. These, combined with large slopes, numerous bunkers and challenging Bermuda grass led Golf Digest to declare it the “toughest course in America.”

“Any time you’re working with a course that’s received so much TV time over the past two decades, it’s essential to capture the most minute details,” says Brandon Theophilus, CEO of Dancin’ Dogg Golf. “From the incredible vistas to the unpredictable winds, our in-house design team did an exceptional job ensuring OptiShot users can escape to coastal South Carolina without leaving home.”

Like the company’s other premium layouts – including major championship venues Atlanta Highlands, Capitol Club, Golden Gate Club, Jones Lake, Monterey Classic, Old Scot, Royal St. Marks and Whispering Dunes – Carolina Ocean Course can be downloaded at http://www.dancindogg.com for a one-time fee of $49.95.

OptiShot (MSRP: $399.95) connects with Windows computers via a plug-and-play interface and requires only 8-½ feet of swing space. With their own clubs, up to four players per round can compete by hitting real balls, foam balls (provided) or no ball at all. Infrared sensors on a durable swing pad precisely record club-head speed, face angle, swing path, distance, tempo, face contact and ball flight. In addition to Core courses that come with the system, OptiShot users can practice and compete on the par-3 option or a realistic driving range.

The PGA of America and Hospital for Special Surgery to distribute pedometers to spectators at 94th PGA Championship and Get Golf Ready Family Fun Zones promoting golf as a healthy activity

The 94th PGA Championship, held Aug. 6-12 at The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, will not only give golf fans a chance to watch their favorite players tee off, but will also allow them to experience the fitness benefits of golf first-hand. For the third consecutive year, The PGA of America will distribute free pedometers and encourage spectators to participate in “Let’s Move on Course!,” sponsored by Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), to promote the healthy impact of time walking the golf course.

  • 25,000 pedometers will be available free of charge to golf fans attending the 94th PGA Championship, as well as fans attending the Get Golf Ready Family Fun Zone held at various locations in Charleston. Those who create a “walking” account and track their steps at HSS.edu/golf will be entered into a drawing to win an autographed pin flag signed by the 2012 PGA Champion.
