(Yas Island, UAE – October 26, 2011) Yas Links Abu Dhabi (http://www.yaslinks.com), the UAE’s newest and award-winning golf course, is on the cusp of further success after being shortlisted in the prestigious Asian Golf Monthly Awards 2011.

The UAE venue, which recently earned a place in the acclaimed Golf World Top 100 Courses in the World rankings for the first time, has been nominated, along with two other venues, in the Best Course in the Middle East category.

The gala awards ceremony will take place at the Pattaya Exhibition & Convention Hall in Thailand on November 2, 2011.

Chris White, General Manager of Aldar Properties (Golf Division), developer of Yas Links, said: “We are enormously proud to be shortlisted for another award, and one as important as Best Course in the Asian Golf Monthly Awards.”

For Yas Links, already the recipient of a string of high-profile accolades despite having only opened last year, its shortlisting for the annual AGM ‘Oscars’ is “further acknowledgement of Yas Links’ growing status within golf in the Middle East,” according to Chris White.

This rise in prominence is highlighted by the various affiliate relationships the Yas Island-based club – whose celebrated championship links course was designed by leading golf course architect Kyle Phillips – has already forged with leading golf organisations and clubs worldwide for the mutual benefit of all parties.

For example, it teamed up with IMG, the global sports, entertainment and media company, earlier this year to support its Prestige service – a reciprocal programme that features a network of more than 30 premier golf properties and partners across the world. The services entitles Yas Links’ full members, along with those at participating clubs, to enjoy ‘preferred access’ status (including special rates, discounts, benefits and privileges) offered by their counterparts and selected IMG Prestige partners.

These golf properties and partners – in established and emerging golf markets such as Australasia, Asia, the Far East and, of course, the Middle East – include Royal Golf Club (Bahrain), La Manga (Spain), Kingsbarns (Scotland), The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs (New Zealand), The Montgomerie Links (Vietnam), Legend Golf & Safari Resort (South Africa) and Lakeview (China).

“Our affiliate reciprocal partnerships forged through the IMG Prestige Service has helped elevate our standing among the world’s finest venues, including those in growing golfing destinations such as the Far East, and serves to help achieve our vision of seeing Yas Links sit shoulder to shoulder with the very best,” said Chris White.

Spencer Robinson, President (Editorial) of Asian Golf Monthly, said Yas Links fully deserved its place on the shortlist for Best Course: “That a course as young as Yas Links has gained so many admirers from all over the world in such a short span of time is a clear testament to the quality of the facility and the vision of the developers.”

He added: “That so many courses in the Middle East received nominations in the 2011 Awards is an indication as to how popular the region is becoming as a golfing destination.”

ECCO Staff Player Fred Couples Wins AT&T Championship Wearing Golf Street Hybrid Shoe

ECCO Staff Player Fred Couples Wins AT&T Championship Wearing Golf Street Hybrid Shoe

Claims Seven-Stroke Victory for Sixth Champions Tour Title
(Londonderry, New Hampshire)—Danish brand ECCO—maker of the world’s most comfortable, technically-advanced footwear—confirms that Staff Player Fred Couples wore its Golf Street Premier hybrid shoes while capturing the Champions Tour’s AT&T Championship this past weekend at TPC San Antonio’s Canyons Course.

Showcasing the ECCO logo on his headwear, the 51-year-old earned his second win of the season by firing rounds of 65, 62 and 66. His 193 total set the tournament record and placed him seven shots clear of the field. With the victory, Couples moves to eighth place in the Charles Schwab Cup standings, despite only competing in nine events this year.

“I haven’t had a seven-shot lead since ‘92 or ‘90 or whenever the heck it was,” said Couples. “It’s a weird feeling, but once we got to the back nine I played much better and I pulled away to a lead that was plenty.”

In 2010, Couples became the first player in history to win three of his first four Champions Tour events. He went on to claim a fourth title and was honored as the Champions Tour Rookie of the Year and Byron Nelson Award winner.

“Fred always looks great and seems to play his best when competing in Golf Street,” says Jesper Thuen, ECCO Global Marketing Manager – Golf. “This was a spectacular win that continues the momentum for our shoes in the hybrid category that ECCO pioneered.”

The first and only true hybrid sport-casual shoe designed to be worn both on and off the course, Golf Street showcases a completely unique outsole with approximately 100 molded traction bars and more than 800 tractions angles. Providing superb grip in all conditions, the wear-resistant and highly durable outsole is constructed from a TPU material that has been shown to last five times longer than rubber. New for 2012 are models that respectively showcase performance textile and reptile printed leather uppers.

ECCO golf shoes are also worn in competition by scores of international Tour stars, including Graeme McDowell, Thomas Bjorn, Stuart Appleby, Thongchai Jaidee, Aaron Baddeley, Thorbjørn Olesen, Andreas Hartø, John Bickerton, Bradley Dredge, Belen Mozo, Gerina Piller, Jennifer Johnson and many others.

ECCO, a world leading brand of shoes combining style and comfort, has built its success on uncompromising quality, innovative technology and the design philosophy, “the shoe must follow the foot.” ECCO is the only major shoe manufacturer to own and manage every step of the shoemaking process, and its employees are the life force behind its products, designing, developing, producing, and taking responsibility for every detail. Tringale Chasing Lunde as Kodak $1 million Competition Down to Two Holes

ROCHESTER, N.Y., October 10, 2011 – Just two holes remain in the 2011 Kodak Challenge, as the $1 million competition visits hole No. 13 at the McGladrey Classic on October 13-16.
Kodak leader Bill Lunde (-19) is not playing this week, leaving a window of opportunity for his closest competitor, Cameron Tringale (-17).  The tricky par 4 No. 13 on the Seaside Course at Sea Island, GA represents one of Tringale’s last chances to catch Lunde.

Tringale is the only remaining PGA TOUR pro within striking distance of Lunde, who has led the Kodak Challenge for 20 consecutive holes; since posting a birdie on the final hole of the Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 25.  Catching Lunde will not be easy, however.  Tringale will need to deliver an eagle on one of the two final Kodak holes, both of which are par 4s; beginning this week on the tricky No. 13 on the Seaside Course.

The McGladrey Classic is the 29th of 30 tournaments to participate in the $1 million Kodak Challenge competition. The Kodak Challenge concludes on hole No. 17 at the Children’s Miracle Network Classic on October 20-23.

The Kodak Challenge celebrates beautiful holes and memorable moments on the PGA TOUR and challenges players to perform their best on 30 designated Kodak Challenge holes. They must play at least 18 of the 30 designated Kodak Challenge holes. The player with the lowest cumulative score on his best 18 Kodak Challenge holes will win $1 million.

About the Par 4, 408-yard Hole #13 at The Seaside Course
Golfers need to take steady aim off the tee as this dog leg left has bunkers along the entire right side of the fairway and a marsh along the left.  Depending on the wind, a driver will still leave golfers with a middle iron in to the green, which is protected by a front side bunker.

Baird Forces Playoff with Kodak Eagle on No. 17 at Frys.com

Lunde Holds Two-Shot Lead with Two Holes to Go

Briny Baird chipped in for a Kodak eagle from 38 feet out of the greenside rough to force a playoff with Bryce Mulder during the final round of the Frys.com Open.  Baird’s eagle was one of five recorded Sunday on Kodak Challenge hole No. 17. Playing from the forward tees for the second consecutive day, the par 4 No. 17 gave the pros plenty of scoring chances.  Baird was the only pro to post a Kodak eagle during each of the final two rounds. Baird ultimately lost the playoff to Mulder.

Also posting Kodak eagles during the final round of the Frys.com Open were Fabian Gomez, David Hearn, Billy Horschel and Marc Leishman.  Horschel had the easiest eagle on No. 17 Sunday after landing his tee shot to just over 8 feet.

Kodak Challenge leader Bill Lunde (-19) was cut Friday.  He leads the Kodak Challenge by two strokes over Cameron Tringale with two holes to go. Tringale fell victim to the third round cut, and consequently did not have an opportunity to play Kodak hole Sunday.

The next Kodak Challenge hole, and the second-to-last of the 2011 season, is the par 4 No. 13 at the McGladrey Classic on October 13-16 in Sea Island, GA.

Kodak Challenge hole #17 at CordeValle Golf Club was the easiest hole at the Frys.com Open during Sunday’s final round, yielding 5 eagles, 39 birdies, 27 pars.

Bill Lunde (-19) holds a two-shot lead over Cameron Tringale (-17). To catch up to Lunde, Tringale will need to post an eagle this week, or next.  Lunde isn’t playing this week, so we’ll see.

Club Glove Microfiber Caddy Towel Taking Collegiate Golf by Storm
Superior Quality, PGA Tour Dominance Leads to Adoption by
More than 100 Men’s and Women’s Teams Nationwide

(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) – Club Glove® – a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of premium golf bags, club covers, travel bags, accessories and luggage – confirms its renowned microfiber Caddy Towel has been selected by more than 100 top colleges and universities nationwide, with additional programs joining the list daily.

Used by more PGA Tour professionals than any other brand, including the 2011 FedEx Cup and TOUR Championship winner, the Caddy Towel features more than 5 million yards of microfiber strands and can hold 300 percent of its weight in water. Easily distinguishable by its waffle texture and stitched trim, it is strong enough to remove dirt, grease and sunblock off a player’s hands, yet gentle enough to safely clean eyeglasses.
“Because of their extremely high quality, Club Glove golf and travel bags have been preferred by men’s and women’s teams for more than a decade,” says Club Glove founder Jeff Herold. “That trust has led to rapid adoption of our Caddy Towel, which boasts a level of performance that cannot be equaled.”

Available at hundreds of the finest public and private facilities nationwide, as well as scores of PGA and Champions Tour events, Club Glove microfiber towels are ultra-lightweight, super absorbent and virtually lint free. They are carried on the company website and by major retailers from coast to coast, including Golf Galaxy, Golfsmith, PGA Tour Superstores, Edwin Watts and Worldwide Golf.

“There are so many things I could say about this towel, but I’ll make it simple: It’s the perfect golf towel,” says PGA Tour star Chris DiMarco.

Club Glove is the undisputed No. 1 golf travel bag brand at all PGA and Champions Tour events. The Darrell Survey confirmed that the brand is preferred by 90 percent of PGA Tour Players. Selected by six U.S. Ryder Cup teams, Club Glove’s high-end, Made-in-the-USA golf bags have been a fixture at green grass and off course shops for nearly a decade and are available in stand, cart and Sunday versions. Its Last Bag was named one of the sport’s top 10 innovations of the last 20 years by Golf Digest.
